how about skunk cabbage

"Skunk cabbage like many other members of the arum family contain sharp crystals of calcium Oxalate. If any part of a Skunk cabbage is put in your mouth the crystals can become embedded in our mucous membranes and provoke intense irritation and burning." SO DO WE WANT TO EAT ANY PART OF THESE?
The Native peoples of Canada seemed to think if the birds didn't want to eat something they didn't either. So skunk cabbage seems to be left alone and so shall we leave it be!
