Let's SPICE it up!

Oh all the lovely fragrance's Christmas brings! We just brought our tree in and even bleach boy who carried it through the door smells like the forest. In the search for the tree skirt I opened several boxes and one gave me a burst of SPICE. I dug into it and found the little cinnamon ornaments we made in Girl Scouts. This recipe has been around but few add the glue. It seems to have kept them together all these many years. Of course you know any time you want to bring back a fragrance you need to put the items in an tightly sealed container.

So here is the recipe, roll and cut with cookie cutters and you too will have a Burst of Spice in your house.

Cinnamon and Apple sauce ornaments

4 ounce can of CINNAMON or 1 cup

1 tablespoon ground CLOVES

1 tablespoons NUTMEG

3/4 Cup Apple sauce

2 tablespoons of plain white glue

knead this lovely mix until it all holds together. You can add tiny bits of apple sauce if too dry

This should be like clay and not crack when rolling

Roll the dough to 1/4" too thin will brake in drying

you can use more cinnamon under to keep it from sticking

Cut into the shapes you want or use cookie cutters

Don't forget to put a hole near the top for hanging

These can be air dried turning over once or twice a day to keep from curling

Or
Bake at 200 no higher for 20 to 30 minutes turning often.
Don't let these curl, Watch closely

you can add painted features but I like them just Spicy and Brown.

Store in sealed container and they last for many years.

Here is a good article on the health benifits of a little SPICE
